The 666 Journalist interviewed Flo Laurin from SINBREED

The 666 Journalist interviewed Flo Laurin (Guitar, Keyboards) to talk about the new SINBREED album, SHADOWS, enjoy!!

- Shadows is the second album of the band, power metal, speed, melodies, all in one, congratulations!!
Thanks Rodrigo, this is indeed a good description of SHADOWS, haha. We did not invent Power Metal completely new, but i believe we managed to merge all the trademarks we like in this style of metal to an ass kicking record!

- Who was in charge of the lyrics and the music and how was the composition process?
The Lyrics most often come from our friend Thomas, who is great with words. He has a different point of view, so when we have the song, Thomas comes up with an idea and strctured lyrics, and Thomas and me are working them until finished. The things to write about differs widely, from religion, the plague in medieval times or books like george orwell or oscar wilde.
When we compose, new in SHADOWS was, that each band member did write songs, while on When Worlds Collide only me did all the songwriting. So this was a new situation to me, and i am very happy that it turned out that well. We have grown as a band and you can hear this on the new record.

- What can you tell us about the lyrics? Is there any concept behind Shadows?
There is no real concept behind. Bleed and Shadows, both deal with different personalities we all have in our mind, and how those personalities see the light of day. The Demon-faces on the cover represent those different personalities, and so do the three different characters in the Bleed video.

- When I first heard “Broken Wings” I was like wow , what can you tell us about it?  What is your favorite song?
This song is written by Frederik Ehmke and it was fun for me to just "play guitar". I had no big influence on this track. It's great that we all wrote music for Shadows. My personal favorites are SHADOWS and FAR TOO LONG, the two songs which both were hard to compose for me. But i think, the more work you put into a song, the more you like it afterwards, hahaha.

- Musically what's the main difference with your previous album When Worlds Collide?
With welcoming Marcus Siepen to the band as a permanent member, we had the second guitarist and were able to compose the way we later on wold play the song live. So we got rid of the keyboards, which maybe is the most difference to When Worlds Collide. Without having keyboards, it underlines our approach to be super heavy for a power metal band.

- What do you think Sinbreed brings to the Power Metal scene?
I believe we put some fresh wind into the scene. Like i mentioned, we do not invent anything completely new, but we manage to express  our own style of power metal. We write catchy songs, without endless solo parts no one wants to hear. We have a killer production and most often we are a touch harder then other bands in the genre. This is exactly what we want.
- What song you think will sound killer live?
Like Book Of Life from the first one, i believe Call to Arms will be super cool to play live.

- How was the production of the album, where did you record it?
We recorded it on our own, as a band. This was tough, but the right decision. The mixing process took place at Markuse Teske Bazement Studios. We mixed many weeks, to make sure to find our sound we were looking for.

- Who did the artwork, is really nice?
The Cover was created by Felipe Machado Franco, who already did the first cover.
- How do you see working with Sinbreed in the future and what objectives would you like to reach?
We want to continue releasing records and promote the songs live. This is what i always dreamed of and i will continue doing this as long as i can. It woulbe great to play a bigger tour someday, to support a big band or so. It's all about playing live in front of the fans.

- Are you going to go on tour to release the album or any special show?
We are currently planning with some promoters to play the new songs in 2014. Hopefully we make it outside of Germany, too. It would be our pleasure!

- Could you share with us three albums that you’ve been spinning lately?
Of course. According to my iTunes Playlist I'd go for :-)
"Black Dahlia Murder" - Miasma
"Kamelot" - Epica
"King Diamond" - Abigail II

- Something you would like to say to the fans over the world?
I just wanna say hi and thank all of your readers for the support. If you are into good power metal with lots of speed, brutal guitars and high and soaring vocals, i welcome you to check out Shadows. I am sure you won't be disappointed :-)

Thanks for your time and I hope to continue listening to this amazing music!
Thank you once more Rodrigo, all the best, Flo.

Special thanks to SINBREED and AFM Records
